Darkness and Light
Contrasts abound at this time: political change, social upheaval, and an ongoing pandemic. In the past few weeks we’ve witnessed popular repudiation of a would-be autocrat, a nation forced to leave a grand alliance, stark examples of racist behavior, and spikes in infections and deaths from COVID19 while its vaccine is rolled out (at least in the developed world). With so much happening so quickly it’s hard to take it all in and digest the reality and implications of these changes. Most indications however are that the light will be brighter in the next few years.
The sun sinks into the crook of a cottonwood tree with its light sparkling in the leaves above on the shortest day of the year, with a mountain wave cloud overhead and Saturn and Jupiter merging in the sky above, sights that bring out hopeful thoughts.
