Both Sides Now
Joni Mitchell fans will think this is an odd title to a cloudless scene, but it refers to the view of the Green River canyon from the Maze side of Canyonlands. There's probably a 1000:1 ratio of folks who see this area from the Island in the Sky side (bluffs in the distance above the White Rims) versus this side in the Maze District. I've taken and posted many pictures from the other side (e.g. Grandview and Murphy Points, Green River Overlook, False Kiva), so it was fun to get out to Panorama Point and look back toward the other side. In the distance on the right are the La Sal Mountains, and at the center of the left top quadrant is Turks Head, a small butte capped by White Rim sandstone surrounded by an oxbow of the Green River.
