Puffin Zen Garden

On a rare sunny evening a Puffin (Fratercula arctica) shines in the waning sunlight. After spending the day feeding and nest tending, the puffins congregate at the edge of the sea cliffs and socialize, before heading to their nooks on the cliffs to rest for the night. Once their chicks have fledged the birds head back to the ocean for the rest of the year, until next year's breeding season.

This is very close to straight out of the camera- the light was stunning this evening, almost like warm studio light. Of the dozens of shots I took of puffins on this trip, this is my favorite (and thus, the last puffin post for awhile). (1 to 2)
