Clay cliffs near Summerland, BC

These impressive clay cliffs border Okanagan Lake along most of its southernmost 16 km or so, from Penticton north to Summerland and Naramata, BC. They were formed by late ice-age deposition of silt into Lake Penticton, a larger precursor of Okanagan Lake. A view from the Pyramid Picnic Site near Summerland.
