In Memoriam: Wayne Weber
Slate Peak, WA
Slate Peak (2269 m or 7439 feet) is one of the highest points in Washington accessible by road. The top of the peak was levelled to provided a platform for a long-defunct radar station (hence the good road) which was demolished and replaced by a fire lookout tower-- now unused, but still in good repair. Slate Peak is 2 km north of Harts Pass in the North Cascades.
