Malheur Lake, Oregon

Malheur Lake, a large, shallow lake near Burns, OR, is the centerpiece of the huge Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. Located in an inland drainage basin, its area has fluctuated dramatically over the years. Its only outlet is to the west through Mud Lake to Harney Lake, the sump of the basin.
