Summer 2012: Power
As a Soo Line nut, I made a proactive goal to shoot the remaining SOO units before they were sent in for rebuild. This summer I caught SOO SD60s galore. SOO trios, duos, and leaders ran across the CP system on a regular basis and I was there to photograph many of these movements. I even had the opportunity to catch three of the four SOO painted SD60Ms in the lead. The Hockey Stick and Candy Apple units kept me busy this summer. However I didn't just limit myself to SD60s. I also caught some other amazing consists such as this trio of GP38-2s on 581. However one of the best catches for this SOO fan was a pair of the last operating former SOO GP9s on the IC&E Nitrin Line. It was such a cool experience to see almost 60 year old SOO units running around relatively unchanged.
One day the SOO will be a thing of the past, but for the past 20 years it has been alive and well on the CP. While I won't be catching any White and Red units, I will be catching some Grey and Red units heading through campus. Not a bad trade off, but I will still miss my beloved SOO.
