a fiery sun

so cruel and unjust,

and … indifferent,

beats unabated

down upon those bound

by the confines of

ancient canyon walls.

above, the condor

soars effortlessly

eyeing the livers

of those believers

in a paradise

of our own making,

ardent apostles

who toil by rushing

waters unleashed by

andean glaciers.
