... of an exhausted Virginia Opossum, Didelphis virginiana, which had apparently been swimming in our pool without authorization for some time, before my wife fished it out this morning. The bared teeth are in response to an investigation by one of the dogs. Eventually it left a wet trail into the bushes, so probably has escaped predation, at least for today. Adult Opossums are not rare in the neighborhood, but I have not seen live ones this young.
