Lamium amplexicaule—also known somewhat ungraciously as Henbit deadnettle—a small, naturalized herb. Probably native to the Mediterranean, now globally distributed. Attractive, edible, not regarded as a threat to local ecosystems. Provides nectar to pollinators, forage for animals, and seeds for birds. [cf. Wikipedia]
