Bromshall Junction

Following the cessation of steel making at Shelton Steelworks (Etruria) in 1978; steel blooms were transported from Lackenby by a daily train, the overnight 6M78. Invariably a pair of Thornaby class 31's, they struggled rather up the bank past Uttoxeter.

Here 31123 & 31249 with an additional afternoon working (6Z78) struggle past Loxley Lane AHB Crossing (the former Bromshall junction - see www.flickr.com/photos/barkingbill/2129185270/in/set-72157...). The erstwhile Stafford & Uttoxeter Railway diverged to the right through the site of the p-way cabin.

As demand increased at Etruria, so did the length of the trains. pairs of 37's eventually took over followed by pairs of 37/5's and eventually class 60's with 56's on some of the shorter trains - all came to an abrupt end in 2000 with the inevitable closure of Shelton Bar Steelworks.
