Colorado - Boulder: NCAR - Walter Orr Roberts Nature Trail

Be aware, Mountain Lions and Bears can be dangerous. Bears and Mountain Lions are active in this area throughout the year. If you encounter a Bear or a Mountain Lion: do not run, scream, or turn your back; make yourself look as large as possible; put children between adults; speak firmly & back away slowly; if attacked, fight back.

For protection of roosting Townsend's Big Eared bats, Mallory Cave and adjacent slopes were closed from April 1 to October 1, 2010.

The Walter Orr Roberts Nature Trail, a 0.4 mile hike loop with an elevation of 74 feet, starts at the Mesa Laboratory of the National Center for Atmospheric Research. The short trail boasts interpretive signs on the weather's affects on the Front Range, wonderful views of Flatirons and links to the more lengthy Mesa Trail and trail system.
