Marsh marigolds

Caltha palustris......In many parts of the British isles farmers used to hang Marsh marigolds over the byres of thier cattle on May day to protect them against faries and witches....The plants common name of Kingcup is derived from the Old English Cop meaning a button or stud such as Kings once wore.
