Buckhorn Panel Detail

Continuing our tour of the Buckhorn Wash Panel with another detail shot of a previous photo.

Created over 2,000 years ago, this Barrier Canyon Style panel is probably one of the most famous in the San Rafael Swell. The panel is about 130 feet long. The glyphs were painted using powdered hematite and are upwards of four feet tall.

The Buckhorn Panel is easily accessible by car and requires no hiking. Consequently, over the years, it was repeatably vandalized. In 1996 the State of Utah and Emery County "restored" the panel.
