Helen Donath was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, USA on 10th July 1940. She made her debut as a concert / lieder singer in New York in 1958, making her stage debut three years later in 1961.
Her international career effectively dates from 1967 when she sang Pamina in Die Zauberflöte at the Salzburg Festival. Since then she has sung in all thye worlds major opera houses.
