Soprano Emma Albani was born in Chambly, Quebec, Canada on 1st November 1847 and died in London, England on 3rd April 1930 was a leading soprano of the 19th century and early 20th century, and was the first Canadian singer to become an international star – she made her operatic debut on 30th March 1870 .

 

In 1925, Albani was made a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire by King George V.
