Setting a creosoted telephone pole on fire is generally considered a bad thing. So part of our job is painting a ring of fire around any hazards like that, then going around with the water packs to squirt out the inner edge of the flame. By the time the main fire front arrives, there's a nice safe black buffer zone around it.
