Vol-au-Vent
Near God's heart in a garden
The kiss of the sun for pardon,
The song of the birds for mirth,
One is nearer God's heart in a garden
Than anywhere else on earth.
Dorothy Frances Gurney (Garden Thoughts)
One of the greatest fears in my life was (is) to loose the faculties of joy which are incredibly important to me.
I often talk to my mum about getting blind... She is a woman who always saw the tiniest beauty in everything, she loved reading and she loves singing!
Last night I had the 'time' to ponder this question some more.... I feared to get blind, as my eye kept swelling up and hot burning tears trickled down my cheeks, lashes broke off and stuck to my skin and with every horrible trip to the bathroom and with every look in the mirror my fear grew and terror nearly cut my heart.
At 5 in the morning, I woke my husband and asked him to take me to the nearest hospital with eye emergency equipment (some 40km from home)
The rest is history..... I caught a viral infection from some person with flu, I shall use eye salves, drops, etc and hopefully will soon be like new!!! (PLEASE Good God....)
I still don't know which loss of my favourite senses would be hardest....
I love reading
I love making AND hearing music and singing
I love good food and drinks
I love touching all human beings I care for, but also animals, plants, even the frost on a flower...
I love swimming, walking, visiting friends
Of course, I love my Hero Husband with all my heart and rest, my family....
So, how can one contemplate loosing ANY part of all this!?
I am SO GLAD AND HAPPY to be still able to look at those wonderful greens (another day it will be something else, maybe the Blues, or Animals, or Landscapes or 'Creative Compositions'... and other contacts will be gathered in a mosaic!)
Have a great and happy Sunday.
