Crows are capable of solving simple problems, which comes as no surprise to anyone who has watched them drop shellfish from the air onto rocks, cracking the shells and exposing the meaty flesh. The Northwestern Crow is a shoreline feeder first and foremost, and its high population density is a reflection of the wealth of food supplied by the intertidal zone. It will pull garbage out of bins, scrounge food from tourists, steal food meant for other birds or pets or scavenge the local landfill.
