365/10 - When Pontiac Was King
I see this car frequently when driving home from work, so pulled off today to photograph it. To me, it is a reminder of the late 1970s when Ford produced the worst Mustang ever, Chevy did okay with the Camaro, and Dodge didn't have much to offer for muscle car enthusiasts. The Pontiac Transam was the most desired car. T-Tops, raised air intake, and an aggressive-looking front end made this the coolest of muscle cars. The Transam gained even more popularity thanks to the "Smokey and the Bandit" movies.
When I turned 16 in 1982, I wanted one so bad. Sadly, I couldn't even afford the 6-cylinder Firebird. I still look upon these admiringly.
