She Has Her Cyclothymic Moods

Further work with the human face and the manipulation tools that have become favourites to explore. I'm going to run with this ball for a while but will also mix it up to keep things fresh. Ever the explorer ...

Music Link: "Three of a Perfect Pair". King Crimson, from their album of the same title. This was one of Crimson's most original and rigorous periods. Tightly composed, using the then very popular and emerging minimalist patterning of composers Philip Glass and Steve Reich, the band produced some striking and still impressive music that brilliantly displayed the enormous talents of all the 4 players of the band.

"Three of a Perfect Pair" relays the story of a VERY dysfunctional couple, one of whom rapidly cycles between extremely contrasting moods ( she ) to the point of often actualizing as two different people, hence the 3 of the pair. "He's" not much better off. Although there's only one person in the image, the distortion and dangerous fluidity of an ambiguous identity is eluded to with the image. Not meant to be a precise illustration of the song, the choosing of which came after the image was created, I thought the song was suited to the fluid and mercurial self the image implies.
