Phraya Nakhon Cave is located in the Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park in Prachuap Khiri Khan province, a 45 minutes drive south of Hua Hin. First step to reach the cave is to drive to the small village of Bang Pu located by the beach, and from here we decided to rent a longtail boat to take us around the cape to Laem Sala beach. The second leg of the trip starts at Laem Sala beach. A few hundred meters walk will take you to the start of a rather steep and rocky path to the cave. About half way up the hill is a view point where you can taka a break and enjoy great views of the beach, the sea and a number of small nearby islands. The climb up the hill goes through some beautiful forest, where cicada insects live producing remarkably loud noise. It takes about 30 minutes to reach to cave. You can also combine a boat trip to the cave with Monkey Island, ask at the pier.

De Phraya Nakhon Cave ligt net buiten het Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park, op drie kwartier rijden vanaf Hua Hin. Je kunt een scooter huren, maar je kunt ook een taxi pakken De route naar de grot bestaat uit twee delen. Het eerste deel begint op het strand van Bang Pu Village. Je kunt kiezen om de longtail boot te nemen of te lopen. Wij kozen voor de boot maar lopen is ook prima te doen. Je hebt onderweg een prachtig uitzicht over de stranden en verschillende eilandjes. Na stevige wandeling van een half uur of 5 minuutjes met de boot kom je aan bij het Laem Sala strand. Bij het tweede deel van de tocht is er geen shortcut meer en moet je het op eigen kracht doen. Je moet een halfuur hiken om de grot te bereiken. De klim is behoorlijk pittig, maar absoluut de moeite waard!
