Even on numbing, frosty nights,

Through branches bare, and gnarled like

Fingers frozen in winter's icey grasp,

Bathed in beautiful white moonlight

Owls

Hunters

Silent ghosts

With tallons sharp and penetrating as winter's cold,

Swoop

To claim another soul in the freezing

Dead of night

It is the killing time ...
