Sand Car Silo

These short hoppers have been a barometer of success for railroads in the recent years, from scarcity, to scores of new deliveries, to long strings of stored cars. They are often in service carrying frac sand from Wisconsin and Minnesota to oil fields in the west. This one is growing no moss as it hustles along the St. Croix Sub. October 22, 2016.
