(NYT14) RAMALLAH, West Bank -- Feb.20, 2001 -- RAMALLAH-SHRINE-2 -- The Sakakini Cultural Center here has been converted into a spare, somber shrine to the first 100 "martyrs" of the Palestinian uprising that began in late September. Each life is summed up by one object, selected by the family and then wrapped, boxed and mounted beneath a photo of the deceased in an exhibit curated by a French-Palestinian artist, Samir Salameh. Salameh working on one of the installations consisting of a bird cage owned by Nizar Eideh, 15, from Ramallah. The bird Eideh kept was released a day after his death in September, 2000.
