"Irish Wade", tall serpents jar, lid

This is the very ornate lid of the tall jar with the interlaced serpents. The immensely elaborate pattern features very intricately interwoven serpents. It is a traditional Irish Celtic design, copied from a pattern in "The Book of Kells". The jar was designed by James Borsey (who died in 1977) in the 1960s, for Wade of Ireland (since closed down).
