San Pedro Macati

The caption at the bottom reads:

Troops billeted in a church during the Philippine Insurrection.

San Pedro Macati, Rizal-1899

American soldiers setting base inside a captured church in Macati Philippines. (Now Makati, near Manila)

Philippine-American War, 1899.

The Philippine American war is the least remembered war by the Americans and yet it is also one of the most violent.

Things to note:

The Retablo mayor is covered by drapes while an altar, a monumento with a tabernacle, is set up in front of it.

This photo was probably taken during Semana Santa.
