it ain't over till it's over - Southern Spreadwing (Lestes australis)
Fall spreadwings are out too! Southerns are perching with the meadowhawks at the wetlands and Swamp spreadwings are out in the mountains. Southern Spreadwings also fly in spring - I hold the early date for Georgia. I don't come across many spreadwings so each is a treat. Southern btw is our smallest Lestes - these guys were about an inch and a half long. Swamp's are much bigger.
