L.R. Chapman upbound at Clarksville, Tennessee
A couple of images of Hunter Marine's L.R. Chapman as it passed McGregor Park in Clarksville, Tennessee Monday evening (12-16-2013), upbound on the Cumberland River. Both of these are noisy, yes... Both required layering/masking in an effort to negate the banding obtained at ISO1600 and are a vast improvement over the initial raw file conversions. I'm going to experiment further at some point, for I think better exposures for the shadows will allow easier clean-up in post. The banding's not going to go away but may perhaps be alleviated on the very rare occasions that I'd actually attempt shooting ISO 800 or 1600 (thoughts/comments on the subject more than welcome) with my Oly.
