It is worth noting that your driver here is seldom offered the route into this siding at Amersham if both sidings are empty. Also, see here that the points up ahead are still in their normal position and have not been set. If one were to proceed now, or if for whatever reason the points weren't set correctly and the shunt had cleared, there is no sand drag or shunting neck to afford escaping disaster of derailment.
