waiting for the route into Wembley Park northbound

This is the view one gets having come out of Neasden Depot through the dip (or the 'fly under', as denoted NEA DTF on duty sheets). There are a seres of shunt signals and sleeping policemen that get you up to this very last point, and it is here at MG60 that one waits for the route into the platform.

For Metropolitan line trains, we can only accept route 1 or route 2, which will take us into the northbound fast (Platform 1) or northbound local (Platform 2) respectively. All other routes are specifically for the Jubilee line trains, or other stock moves.

Notice that above the Rail Gap Indicator is an RS (route secure) Indicator, and if illuminated, will only show one of four possible routes, e.g. 'RS3'. It allows for a train to move in restricted manual (RM) over points without the need to scotch and clip those points before movement (which is what happens usually in the even of a signal failure).
