"This sh*t grounds planes, not trains!" – Overheard in a conversation behind me.
The weekend had me driving in the fog for the first time. A little more caution, but not that much slower – just knocked 5mph here and there. The weird thing is that driving in daytime fog is not being able to sight the signals as quick as you usually do, but then there are still visible fixed points of reference to remind you of where on the road you actually are, which prepares you for them. Driving in the fog at night (which I did later on, when it got heavier) is the other way around, as you can see the signals, but then you can't see anything else directly in front of you and you don't see the station platforms until the last minute, meaning you have to start braking a lot earlier.
It's all a learning curve! Still got to do the snow and ice yet, though I'm not looking forward to getting down and scraping ice off the rails! :(
