The on-going saga that is the swarm of Westfield contractors having a picnic, riot and a fart on the stairs outside the new mezzanine ticket hall. There were 20% more on the steps before I took this photo, as that 20% were smart enough to move. Station Supervisor went ape – it wasn't fair that I was getting grief on the gateline because customers couldn't get up the stairs, because the stairs aren't even our responsibility as they belong to Westfield, yet we've still got a duty of care to provide safe entry and exit from our premises.

 

It's irresponsible how Westfield have not provided some sort of facility where these contractors can sit, chill and eat their sandwiches, even in the form of a pokey little Portacabin – at least there's a roof over them to shelter from the rain. It's also irresponsible how the Metropolitan Police have failed to deal with this problem, as it is also their responsibility, and despite standing in the bus station, have allowed the masses to gather (yet they've got time to rally up a few protesters during an infrequent protest, but can't actually do every-day policing: IRONY).
