trio of patches

Some of my NASA patches. I got the Hubble one at Kennedy Space Center when I went out to see the launch of Space Shuttle Atlantis in May (STS-132). Mike took me to the Astronaut Hall of Fame and they had the pictures of all the men and women who had been up into space for NASA and all the various patches that they had to their names. I can't remember who had it, but I saw the Hubble patch there on the wall and for some reason I said that I liked it and hoped they had it in the shop at KSC. Which they did. (Not sure why I liked it – I think it's because of the simplicity of it and the colours. It also features NASA's 'worm' logo, which didn't do the rounds for long, and I'm not a big fan of it, but in this patch it goes quite well for some reason.)

It's very hard to walk out of the shop at Kennedy Space Center without wanting to buy practically everything they have on the shelves. 2009 marked 40 years since the Apollo moon landings and I remember picking up a commemorative set of pins for Mike whilst we were there and it had a pretty enamel pin of the insignia for Apollo 11. It's probably one of my favourites.

The Space Store at KSC has an online shop too, which is bad, because every now and again I go on there and peruse what stuff I want. Like the patches. The only reason I took a picture of these patches is because I've decided I wanted to give my new winter coat its own marking and I figured (from all the commuting I do) that there aren't that many people travelling around with NASA patches on their coats. It's just a case of what patch I want to put on my coat (from the few that I have here at home – and the many I could possibly buy on t'Internets).
