Location

Euston Square Station

Notes

I have a lot of memories of this station, both good and bad.

It was the second station I ever got to know as a kid (Baker Street being the first, King's Cross St. Pancras being the third). For a short while, before my brother was born, we used to live in hospital staff accomodation down on Gower Street, as both my parents worked in the local hospitals (UCH Middlesex and the National Temperance). We eventually moved to King's Cross, but instead of walking from Tottenham Court Road/Warren Street/Euston Road and down to King's Cross, my Mother and Father often brought me to Euston Square Station instead to catch the train up the one stop, as my brother and I would usually become tired and uncontrollable by the time we got to Euston by walk or bus.

Euston Square Station hasn't changed much since my childhood. The only thing that's different is the new entrance from Gower Street, but the platforms are still just as I remember them. The station is, quite frankly, a bit of a tip, but I wouldn't like it if the platforms got a Metromess refurb. Perhaps if they cleaned up the tiles and the station name frieze, it would look so much better. I wouldn't want the station to lose its character.
