another North Harrow view of sorts

One from the archives. Hitched a ride.

 

People often ask me what I like most about being at the front of a train. I can't really narrow it down to one thing – there are lots of things, really.

 

I remember when I was a driver on the Piccadilly line. Summer evenings on the late turn were really good if you were coming out of the tunnel at Baron's Court on the westbound at around 7-8 in the evening. You would get skies just like this because you would be chasing the sun on into the west. The climb up out of Hammersmith towards Ravenscourt Park was always a thrill for the view that awaited when you got out from underneath the road above; driving to Acton Town was just amazing if you caught it at sunset, especially on the run towards Chiswick Park when everything seemed to open up...
