10K
Dear Flickrites,
Fool that I am, I have entered the BUPA 10K run to be held on May 4th in Edinburgh. I did so at a time when I had never run anything like10K in my life even though I’m 50 something... mumble, mumble. And another thing I have never done before is to ask people to sponsor me which, as you have guessed, is what this image is about.
Yes friends, you can obtain that golden glow of having done a good thing by pledging a donation to my chosen charity, Edinburgh Headway.
Edinburgh Headway help people recovering from serious head injuries by providing a variety of specialised services from their base at Astley Ainslie Hospital. It’s a great service held together by two very determined and gritty individuals - see:
and more directly and personally, you can see an old friend Paul, preparing for his run last year here
news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/edinburgh_and_east/6256623.stm - watch the video.
Paul was with me at Astley Ainslie for some time and we had many adventures together. Sadly he died last year, something which was a factor in my decision to do this run.
Headway do not have an on line donation website – they’re too busy doing amazing things for amazing people every day so please make your pledge thingy by FLICKRmail to me and I will provide details of how/where to send your donation.
Photographic evidence of my completion will be provided and I’m looking to achieve a sub 60 minutes time (though it’s a tough course!). Hope you can find a few quids for Headway, a really people oriented organisation.
Cheers and thanks for reading to the end! :-D
Max.
