Washing

This little island town must be one of the most colourful places in the world.

Traditionally, the main source of income used to be fishing and, as a result, there were lots of fishing boats sailing in and out of its harbour. Legend has it that the residents began painting their homes in vibrant colours so that the fishermen could see them even in thick fog and avoid crashing into the shore.

Since then, the town has kept up the tradition and continues to paint its houses in a huge variety of different colours. However, if any of the residents want to paint or change their house colour, they have to acquire a special permission.
