The School of Engineering West Hall opened its doors in 1998. The school and this building was one of the first major accomplishments of VCU’s fourth president, Dr. Eugene Trani. The building is a four-floor complex with 147,000 square feet, houses classrooms, research labs, a 27,000-square-foot microelectronics center and administrative and faculty offices including the office of the dean of the School of Engineering. The Wright Virginia Microelectronics Center — an $11 million microelectronics clean room — is one of the only clean rooms in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
