UAS Atoms went Washington D.C. Trip

Forty-Seven of our UASCS Atoms took a three day trip to our nation's capitol, Washington D.C. The students experienced a lot! Highlights of the trip included walking the grounds of Mount Vernon and touring George Washington's home, a photo stop at the White House and a book signing with a survivor from the Holocaust at the US Holocaust Museum. Scholars walked the grounds of Arlington National Cemetery, where they observed the changing of the guards, and heard the honored burial of fallen heroes with a twenty-one gun solute. They completed a scavenger hunt in the Smithsonian Museums of Natural and American Histories. Scholars listened to an audio tour of the US Capitol Building, and marveled at the architecture of the Supreme Court House and Library of Congress Building. At night, they took a guided illuminated tour of the President Lincoln Monument, Korean Conflict Memorial, Vietnam War Memorial and Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial. The trip ended with the opportunity to see the Giant Pandas at the National Zoo.
