granular glass frog - cochranella granulosa - explored

granular glass frog - cochranella granulosa

Explored 2-18-2022.

On my second night hike at Jungla Del Jaguar in Costa Rica I was happy to find this Granular Glass Frog. These frogs are called glass frogs because you can see through their skin and see their internal organs as if they were made of glass.

This wasn't a new species for me but they are always a joy to see. This animal was not molested or moved in any way. I was not targeting looking for frogs because the dry season is about the worst time of year to look for them. They have usually all retreated high into the canopy and are calling from the tops of leaves where you can't see them.
