gladiator tree frog (hypsiboas rosenbergi)

On December 26th my family and I visited the south tip of the Osa Peninsula. They all went on a horseback ride while I explored on foot. I started off following them but was soon distracted by some habitat I saw and wandered through pastures and forests and up a stream for a couple of hours trying to find reptiles and amphibians and birds and other animals. I figured I could find more animals than they could on horseback and boy was I wrong. I regret not going with them. This is the one and only amphibian I saw during that hike. I found it hiding under a large piece of bamboo.

I saw no reptiles and only a few species of birds. My family saw 3 species of monkies, lots of birds, sloths, waterfalls, beach and rainforest. I guess I wont make that mistake again. Although it was nice to have some time alone in the forest and a break from 4 backseat drivers lol.

I did get to see several other animals and birds once I got back to the ranch. I will post about those in the near future.

This was taken with the Olympus 100-400 lens which I used a lot on this trip and decided I really liked for its versatility. I also photographed it with the Olympus 12-100 and I liked the photos with this 100-400 better.
