Moon Rock Exhibit

The National Museum of Cambodia, with help from the U.S. Embassy, unveiled a "Goodwill Moon Rock," which the United States donated to Cambodia in the 1970s.

The moon rock, which was collected by astronauts on the Apollo 17 mission in December 1972, will be on display as part of the museum's centenary anniversary. The lunar specimen was donated in 1973, but this is the first time it will be displayed with a detailed explanation and background thanks to six months of research by the U.S. Embassy.

"Although this rock may be small, its symbolism is large," Chargé d'affaires Michael Newbill said. "We hope this exhibit inspires young Cambodians to dream big. Don’t let the boundaries of what you think is possible stand in your way."
