101025-N-7680E-073 NEW AMSTERDAM, Guyana (Oct. 25, 2010) The President of Guyana, Bharat Jagdeo, shakes hands with Cpl. John Eversley, a Guyanese-American Marine currently embarked on board the multi-purpose amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7). USS Iwo Jima is currently anchored off of the coast of Guyana in support of Continuing Promise 2010 humanitarian civic assistance (HCA) mission. The assigned medical and engineering staff embarked on board Iwo Jima will work with partner nation's teams to provide medical, dental, veterinary, and engineering assistance to eight different nations.
