Steve Murray, Murray Family Farms, Bakersfield, CA. a user of the On-Farm Food Safety Project Tool, www.onfarmfoodsafety.org, described a producers experience with the risk management tool and the fact that it saved him thousands in consultant fees. Murray along with Agriculture Deputy Secretary Dr. Kathleen Merrigan and leaders from agriculture and food organizations announced the release of the tool at the United States Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, December 15, 2011. To the right are Agriculture Deputy Secretary Dr. Kathleen Merrigan and Phil Petrilli, Regional Director, Chipotle Mexican Grill, a sponsor of On-Farm Food Safety Project. The On-Farm Food Safety Project is the first of its kind and was developed by a broad coalition of farm and produce industry partners with lead funding from the USDA Risk Management Agency.
