SINGAPORE (Aug 8, 2013) Chief (Select) Gas Turbine Systems Electrician Julius Barnes, front, and Lt. Kevin Matson, assigned to the littoral combat ship USS Freedom (LCS 1), monitor the engineering plant status from the readiness control officer console on the bridge as the ship leaves Singapore. LCS crew 101 is on its first underway of the deployment and will complete the Freedom's maiden deployment to Southeast Asia before returning with the ship to her homeport of San Diego.
