DA NANG, Vietnam (April 22, 2013) Petty Officer First Class Shari Duffy is passed a balloon by her new friend while attending the monthly birthday party for over 40 children of the Promise House as a community service event with Sailors of the guided-missile destroyer USS Chung-Hoon (DDG 93). Sailors played games, practiced English and enjoyed birthday cake with the children of Promise House; part of the Street Children’s Program of Da Nang, coordinated by Orphan Voice. Chung Hoon and USNS Salvor (T ARS 52) are in Da Nang, Vietnam for Naval Exchange Activity (NEA). The NEA provides opportunities for U.S. and Vietnamese naval professionals to share best practices and exchange maritime skills. Maritime skill exchanges between the two navies are non-combatant events, such as humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, medical training, fire fighting and damage control, search and rescue, diving and salvage, sports and community service projects.
