Replenishment-at-sea with the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force

PHILIPPINE SEA (Nov. 13, 2012) - The guided-missile destroyer USS McCampbell (DDG 85) conducts a replenishment-at-sea with the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force Towada-class fast-combat support ship JS Hamana (AOE 424) during a maritime exercise designed to improve interoperability and further relations between the nations. McCampbell is part of the George Washington Carrier Strike Group, the U.S. Navy's only continuously forward-deployed carrier strike group, based out of Yokosuka, Japan, and is currently conducting a routine western Pacific patrol in support of regional security and stability of the vital Asia-Pacific region.
