SUBIC BAY, Philippines (Oct. 8, 2012) - Brig. Gen. Remigio C. Valdez, Republic of Philippines exercise director/deputy commandant, gives his remark during the Amphibious Landing Exercise (PHIBLEX) opening ceremony held in the hangar bay of the forward-deployed amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6). PHIBLEX is an annual bilateral exercise held in conjunction with the Armed Forces of the Philippines and is designed to improve interoperability, increase readiness and develop professional and personal relationships between U.S. and Philippines forces.
