US Marines conduct training during Talisman Sabre Exercise 2021

AT SEA (July 20, 2021) - U.S. Marines with Force Reconnaissance Platoon, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), prepare to conduct a boat assault force (BAF) training exercise, aboard USS New Orleans (LPD 18) in the Coral Sea during exercise Talisman Sabre, July 20, 2021. This is the ninth iteration of Talisman Sabre, a large-scale, bilateral military exercise between Australia and the U.S. involving more than 17,000 participants from seven nations. The Force Reconnaissance Platoon conducted the BAF training exercise to test speed and operability while maintaining maritime readiness. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the America Expeditionary Strike Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners, and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
